Types of Ventless Fireplaces
There are many different ventless fireplace styles and designs; basically there are two major types, followed by different fuel sources. You have in-door ventless fireplaces and outdoor ventless fireplaces. They come in all different designs whether indoor or outdoor, you can get them in modern design, contemporary design or even custom designed to match your home decor. This guide explains a little bit about each ventless fireplace type and what fuel sources it utilizes.
In-Door Ventless Fireplaces
This style of ventless fireplace is designed to be used in-doors, it doesn’t require a chimney, flute or duct system to vent out emissions, instead due to its fuel source it’s able to vent out into the room. This style of ventless fireplace can be fueled by natural gas, propane or gel packs. Usually, they aren’t universal and have only one available fuel source, meaning a ventless gas fireplace cannot also use gel packs or propane. With an indoor ventless fireplace you should always follow any safety standards and consider any laws regarding ventless fireplaces in your area.
Indoor ventless fireplaces come in many different designs. You can find these models made out of wood, chrome, metal and even brick. They come in many different fashion styles, including modern and contemporary. Some ventless fireplace manufactures even do custom designs to match your current decor, but this can drastically raise the price of the unit. Indoor ventless fireplaces tend to cost more than the out-door versions; this is due to the higher aesthetic quality they tend to have. An in-door fireplace can really add to the aesthetics of any room in your home at a much lower cost than getting a traditional fireplace installed.
Out-Door Ventless Fireplace
This style of a ventless fireplace is designed to be used out-doors only, it’s doesn’t require a chimney, flute or duct system just like the in-door ventless fireplace type. However, you need to check with state and city ordnances regarding out-door ventless fireplaces; some areas might require a flute or chimney to prevent fire hazards. Unlike its indoor counterpart this type of ventless fireplace can use wood as a fuel. It’s more common and applicable to use wood in an outdoor ventless fireplace than natural gas or a gel fuel.
You’ll find that outdoor ventless fireplaces tend to have a more modern look and are generally made of metal or chrome. You can find some contemporary styles, however due to it being used only outside they tend not to have the same aesthetic feel as the indoor ventless fireplaces. These can be a great heating source during colder days and even during winter and can add a cozy feel to anyone’s backyard, camping trips, etc.
